Macrozoobenthos Communities from Floodplain Lakes of the Volga River Valley (Saratov Region)

Macrozoobenthos from lakes of the Volga River valley were consists 99 species of hydrobionts (including 80 species of heterotopic insects). The greatest number of communities were determined in the lake Sazanka (in spring – 8, in summer – 5, in autumn – winter period – 9). Community Glyptotendipes glaucus, Polypedilum nubeculosum and Oligochaeta were prevailed during the year. Benthos other lakes include the least quantity of communities: Holodnoe lake – 3; Lenivoe lake – 1; Sadok lake – 1.

Еcological Complexes of Beetles (Insecta: Coleoptera) Coastal Area of Floodplain Lakes of Medveditsa River (Saratov Area)

The article contains the results of the coastal beetles research (floodplain lakes of Medveditsa river Lysogorsky district Saratov region). There is also a brief description of the investigated biotope. List of 68 species of beetles is presented. The representatives of investigated set of beetles are divided into ecological groups, humid gradient and food chains.

мChange of Ecological and Biological Properties of Light Brown Soils of Kalmykia at Oil Pollution

Change of ecological and biological properties of light brown soils of Kalmykia at oil pollution is investigated. Negative influence of oil pollution on biological properties of light brown soils is studied. Influence of oil pollution on body height and development of plants is studied. Oil negatively influences such indicators of plants as the root length, the stalk length, the quantity of the sprouted plants, they decrease. It is proved that oil pollution of the light brown soil leads to change of physical and chemical properties of soils.

Accumulation of heavy metals and arsenic with medicinal herbal raw material of common shovel harvested in Voronezh region

The Voronezh region is traditionally the most important area of crop production and agriculture. The purpose of the research was to study the contamination with heavy metals of medicinal plant raw materials of the Voronezh region using the example of the roots of ordinary burdock, prepared in urbo- and agro-ecosystems, which have various anthropogenic effects on themselves. The accumulation of heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, nickel, copper, zinc, cobalt, chromium) and arsenic in 51 samples of raw materials was studied.

Species composition of microorganisms of the trophic chain: Cereal plants – aphids

The article is devoted to the study of the species composition of microorganisms of the trophic chain: cereal plants – aphids. The objectives of the study were to determine the species composition, occurrence index and quantitative indicators of associative microorganisms of rye plants of the “Marusenka” variety and common grass aphids. The work was carried out on the basis of the Department of Microbiology and Plant Physiology of N. G. Chernyshevsky SSU.

Elena G. Kulapina — Doctor of Chemistry, Professor, Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation, Laureate of the Prize of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, Professor of the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Chemical Ecology of Saratov National Research State University named after N. G. Chernyshevsky (SSU). Elena Grigoryevna is a well-known scientist and analyst, who is actively working in the field of scientific developments and the practical application of potentiometric sensors in the analysis of organic compounds.

Early start and short life of an entomologist (110th Anniversary of Andrey Andreevich Richter)

At the end of 2019 an old collection of insects was found in the Zoological Museum of Saratov State University. It was collected in the vicinity of Saratov, in the Lower Volga region, as well as in the North Caucasus and Transcaucasia, by young Andrey A. Richter while he was studying at school and Saratov University (1926–1930). The collection (185 specimens) was not processed, with most insects left unidentified. Nevertheless, it has been well preserved. Its examination has already produced first results important for better understanding of A. A. Richter biography.

The article is dedicated to the blessed memory of Tatyana Grigorievna Anishchenko, Doctor of Biological Sciences, professor, who used to hold the position of head of the Department of Human and Animal Physiology of the Biological Faculty of the Saratov State University from 1995 to 2015. This is a look back at the memories of some of her students and a message for new generations about great prospects in obtaining a golden ticket to life and the wonderful world of science.

Professor A. A. Richter scientific and pedagogical activity in Saratov (150th anniversary of Academician Andrey Alexandrovich Richter)

The year of 2021 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Andrey Alexandrovich Richter, a prominent scientist, botanist and plant physiologist (August 15, 1871), who worked for a number of years at Saratov University (1924–1931), then moved on to the Academy of Sciences (Corresponding Member in 1929, Member since 1932). He was the organizer and the fi rst director of the Institute of Plant Physiology of the Academy of Sciences (IPR RAS). A. A. Richter is a well-known fi gure in Russian university education, who began his road in science at St. Petersburg University as a student of A. S.

110 years of Zoological Department of Saratov State University

The paper shows the history of formation and development of Zoological departments of the Saratov State University – from the creation of the first Department of Zoology at the opening of the University in 1909 to the modern period. The role of the heads of department and their employees in the formation of the educational and scientific process, providing the departments with the necessary equipment and establishing of the Zoological Museum is considered in historical aspect.

110 years of Botanical Department of Saratov State University

The article provides information about the history of the Botanical Department, which was opened simultaneously with the foundation of the Saratov University in 1909. The role of such heads of Department as A. A. Gordyagin, A. M. Levshin, D. E. Yanishevsky, A. D. Fursaev, N. P. Avdulov, A. A. Chiguryaeva, T. P. Ryabova, A. O. Tarasov, V. A. Boldyrev in the development of the Department and scientific research is highlighted. The role of the Department’s employees in the formation of the herbarium of SSU is observed.

90 years of the Biology Faculty of the Saratov State University

The Biological Faculty of the Saratov State University turns 90 years old in 2021. The first students were enrolled at the Faculty in the 1931–1932 academic year. However, the faculty’s history began long before its opening, when the Department of Botany and the Department of  Zoology with Comparative Anatomy were organized in the new Saratov Imperial Nikolaev University in 1909.
